The Plant Genetic Resources Research Institute is one of the thirteen (13) research institutes under the council for scientific and industrial research. It originally started as the plant introduction and exploration in 1964. The institute is mandated to collect and conserve the plant genetic resources of Ghana and abroad. The commercialization activities are geared towards the production of planting materials (seedlings of fruits, farm produce and sale of farm produce), rendering of consultancy services, ecotourism and training in plant genetic resources conservation and utilization. Some of our seedlings for sale are citrus, avocado pear, mango, nutmeg, coconut, rambutan, jackfruit and breadfruit. The rest of the seedlings are bread nut, jaboticaba, Anona, sweet berry, star apple, Guava, Malay apple pawpaw, black pepper(spice), Xylopia(spice), Aframomum(spice), cinnamon(spice), Monodora(spice) and ginger(spice)
