Rare Disease Ghana Initiative

Rare Disease Ghana Initiative is the National Alliance Non-Governmental Organization in Ghana leading advocacy, serving as a voice and coordinating care for persons living with undiagnosed, genetic and rare diseases in Ghana. The mission of RDGI is to improve the wellbeing and quality of life of families affected by undiagnosed and rare diseases in Ghana.

RDGI brings together rare disease patients, caregivers, support groups, charitable and non-profit organizations, health organizations, clinical experts, researchers, emerging biotech enterprises, and industry partners to take action on rare disease in Ghana and in collaboration with international alliances. RDGI provides an enabling platform for addressing gaps in the entire continuum of rare disease management. This spans from increased knowledge and awareness, early diagnosis and prevention to best treatment practices and care, community engagement and comprehensive research.

Rare Disease Ghana Initiative is a member of Rare Disease International; a member of African Alliance for Rare Disease and a member of Rare Foundation Alliance of Global Genes. Rare Disease Ghana Initiative is a member of the International Rare Disease Research Consortium (IRDiRC) and serves on Patient Advocacy Constituent Committee (PACC).Rare Disease Ghana Initiative is a member of the Undiagnosed Disease Network International (UDNI). RDGI is also a member of the West Africa Civil Society Organizations (WACSO) under the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI).
