FOUNDING OF UCAES

 The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council (AATC) is historically known to be committed to traditional community participation in the provision of formal education. This was demonstrated as far back as 1937 with the establishment of Abuakwa State College, long before the nation attained independence. Encouraged by this success, the Council is blazing the trail again by establishing a University at Bunso. According to various Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), the Traditional Council agreed to mutual co-existence of the new University with the state institutions already occupying parts of the campus and to share in educational facilities and benefit from human resources. 

Vision 

The vision of the UCAES is to create a catalytic institution in the teaching, researching and practice of sustainable agriculture and environmental sustainability. It is envisaged that, over time, there will develop a strong scientific and technological knowledge-base in the Country to help address national, regional and, indeed, global environmental challenges.

Mission

 The mission of the College is to provide facilities, functions and academic faculty resources in contemporary studies/issues to students within the core mandate of agriculture and sustainable exploitation and preservation of the ecosystem through teaching, research and practical dissemination of knowledge. The mission is summarized as follows;

• To be a teaching and examining body.
• To provide instruction in such branches of learning as the University may think fit, with studies in Agriculture and Environment as its raison d’être.
• To award Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates and other conferment as may be directed.
• To provide research facilities for higher learning [including technological and professional education by research].
• To conduct research, workshops, seminars and conferences
• To co-operate with other institutions and bodies in the planned development of higher education and sustainable environmental practices globally.
• To engage in economic ventures both as a means of providing practical training for students in entrepreneurship and as a means of achieving institutional economic sufficiency.
